It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve shared a fashion post with all of you, so I’m excited to share an easy way to style one of summer’s best beat-the-heat pieces, the little white dress.
If every woman needs a little black dress in her closet for a night on the town, then she also needs a little white dress to rick during the warmer summer months. As elegant and understated as black is, it can be HOT (not just HAWT) and white offers a bright and cool alternative with the summer sun is at its finest. I have several little white dresses that I love to pair with all kinds of bright and colourful pieces because the combination just fits summer so well – bright, happy, and full of lightness and sunshine.
For this look, I chose a favourite drop-waist dress from Zara that I picked up last summer. A sleeveless style is perfect for hot days, but what about when the air conditioning is too high or that evening chill creeps in? Well, my favourite easy solution, especially if you want to make a dressier piece look more causal is to throw on a denim jacket and some block heels.
For daytime, I love a good tote bag, as shown in this photo:
But for evening, I would swap out that tote for a fun and sparkly clutch like this one:
My dress may be from last season, but there are so many great little white dresses around that you literally can’t go wrong! Here are some I’m loving right now:
And a good denim jacket is a closet staple you can’t live without. These ones are great options:
I’m nearly always cold at some point during the day, but I am finding that this summer, I’m reaching for a denim jacket far more than my usual cardigan. I love it with printed dresses and dark colours, but more than anything, I love the way denim and white pop together like they do in this outfit. It’s simple, but cute, and in the summer, that’s exactly what I’m going for.
Enjoy the pretty things in life,
