There is just something about a festive plaid shirt or scarf that is so fitting for the holidays. The colours usually reflect some of our favourite Christmas shades and the bright patterns are cheery and festive without having to try too hard. J. Crew has perfected the art of plaid over the years and the vibrants reds, greens, and pops of cream and navy found in their various plaid patterns are one of my favourite ways to dress up for the holidays, whether paired with a sequined skirt or with a simple pair of skinny jeans.
Last year, one plaid shirt in particular caught everyone’s eye and sold out faster than you could say “can I have that?” I managed to order the last size 2 available online (albeit a Tall version, but I do like my shirts on the longer side) and I definitely was glad for it. I wore it before the holidays, I wore it in the new year, I even wore it on Christmas Day and loved it every single time. I received endless compliments on it. Why am I telling you this? Because it’s back in two versions – the exact one I picked up last year, and a more budget friendly version from J. Crew Factory. This inspired me to not only share my favourite J. Crew plaid picks, but to also share the Factory versions that are available at a fraction of the price. Enjoy!
The Perfect Shirt in Stewart Plaid
This is THE shirt. It goes with anything, looks so chic, and this year, you can chose between the J. Crew or J. Crew Factory versions. The main difference I see between the two is that the Factory version has a bit more of a relaxed feel than the original version, which is a bit dressier in my opinion. Both are the perfect plaid shirt, so no matter what you decide, you won’t be wrong.
The Festive Plaid Shirt
For something a bit fun, both stores have what they are calling “Festive Plaid” shirts, featuring some super cute details like ruffle trim. I also love the colour of these shirts and either girlie version would be perfect for the holidays.
Thinking of something beyond a plaid shirt this holiday season? I’ve got you covered, from sleepwear, to accessories, to shoes, there are so many other great plaid pieces at J. Crew and J. Crew Factory.
Ok, seriously, I want ALL of these shoes. Every single pair. (Yes that is a giant hint for any of my loved ones reading this post…..Dad? Dad?? Hee hee.)
You cannot go wrong with a plaid scarf, and these ones are gorgeous with just about any look, the perfect cold weather accessory.
The Plaid Skirt
For something different, why not try a plaid skirt? The J. Crew taffeta version is dressy perfection, while the tweed version from J. Crew Factory is perfect for a day to evening look. Both would look equally chic with a sleek black turtleneck and pointed-toe heels.
Yes, I said slippers. Seriously, both of these cute pairs are exactly the kind of slippers that any gal would be happy to find under the tree….or be wearing to open presents. Cute, cozy, and perfectly plaid.
Everything Else Plaid!
From sleepwear, to coats, to accessories, there’s always something else cute in plaid. I love these pieces, especially the Navy Stewart Plaid shirt!
All of these plaid pieces are perfect for the holidays, whether for the office Christmas party, for family gatherings and cozy mornings, or for any other festive event. I also love that J. Crew has provided so many cute plaid items at a variety of price points through the J. Crew and J. Crew Factory brands, so you have lots of great options available.
Stay tuned later this week for my plaid styling tips!
