I was up WAYYYYY to early today, so I thought it would be the perfect time to do a post rounding up some recent looks from Instagram. It’s been absolutely frigidly cold in Edmonton lately, so I’m grateful for the ability to share my favourite looks via mirror selfies and quick snaps because it’s honestly too cold to stand outside posing for pics. This coming week isn’t going to be much better, but at least the following week looks like it will be slightly warmer.
Speaking of outfit posts, I did a quick Instagram poll this week to get a sense of what type of outfit photos my followers like to see and I was super surprised by the results! I’ve often heard that people tend to like outfit selfies more than posed pics, but it turns out that my followers the latter more than the former. I was truly surprised! I also asked whether people preferred mirror selfies over the “from above” type and was surprised again when the majority answered the the latter! I’d love to hear your thoughts here on the blog – leave me a comment below and let me know what you’d like to see.
Interestingly, I recently picked up my first DSLR camera AND upgraded my phone so I’m really excited to up my photo game (and I’m thrilled to finally have enough room for pictures, music AND apps on my phone – 16 GB is NOT enough for a blogger, lol).
Ok, on to the outfits. Here are some of my recent IG posts and links to my favourite outfit components!
This sweater dress (and it’s cream-coloured sister) have been my go to’s for cozy but more dressed up style all winter. It came back in stock and is on MAJOR SALE this weekend for $37 CAD!
This easy weekend look (it was my Saturday outfit) was super popular and with good reason! A gingham shirt like this is so versatile – wear it every season and with so many different bottoms! I love it with white denim or cut-off shorts in the summer, but it’s perfect layered under a long cardigan like this in the winter.
I had my eye on this cozy green sweater (I know it looks grey in this pic, but it’s definitely between a mint and light sage green) for a few weeks but given the amount of sweaters I currently own, I didn’t pick it up right away. Good thing too because this week, it went on sale for $10!! I KID YOU NOT! This sweater is honestly so good – cozy, super soft, and definitely much higher quality than the price tag (even at regular price) would suggest. I definitely recommend it! As for these jeans, they are some of my fave higher quality skinny jeans and this week if you use code PERFECTPAIR, you’ll receive a bonus tee with any jeans purchase.
I received this super cute and super cozy sweater in the mail just in time for the cold to really hit. It’s very warm and surprisingly not itchy (when I looked at it online, I expected it would be), but it does run a bit shorter than the website indicated. I shared my thoughts on the sizing on Instagram Stories, but essentially, despite it being listed as “One Size” this definitely does not indicate one size fits all, and I do wish that websites would stop doing this. I would say it fits up to a size six and if you have a shorter torso or are petite, it will fit closer to what I expected. Nevertheless, I love the sweater because the thick knit and pattern is perfect.
I wear this oversized tunic sweater as a dress all the time and I’m not one bit sorry. Mustard is one of my favourites for fall and winter – it works so well with all the other autumnal shades and its a great pop of colour in the dead of winter. This looks was much loved over on Instagram this week and while the exact sweater/dress is no longer available, I’ve found some very similar ones that will work super well to recreate this look!
Yesterdays outfit featured my favourite long-sleeved layering tees, which come in two different striped versions and five different colours. They are by far my favourite long-sleeved tees because the quality is amazing, the fit is perfect (I normally size up one size to get my perfect fit, which is standard for H&M) and the price is phenomenal. This is my favourite long cardigan ever; it’s basically a coat and although it too is long gone, I have found some very similar cardi-coats and linked them. These booties are on sale for half price and are my fave black booties in years – you need to grab a pair before they sell out (they also come in navy, olive, bone, and pink suede!!).
The one bright side in the middle of this Alberta deep freeze – the days are definitely getting longer, and that means more beautiful light for pictures, whether they’re inside or out. And that makes this blogger (and many others) very, very happy . Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!
Enjoy the pretty things in life,
