L’Oreal True Match Foundation with full makeup.
I had a couple of questions over the weekend about the foundation that I use and realized that it’s been a while since I’ve done a beauty post on the blog.
With cooler temperatures and drier air invading the prairies, it’s the time of year that I normally change up my makeup routine. Gone are the sheer tinted moisturizers and BB creams of summer and I’m back to my staple fall/winter foundation, L’Oreal True Match.
My girlfriends Rania and Tasha first introduced me to True Match about a year and a half ago and it quickly became my favourite. I’ve not had a lot of luck with foundation prior to True Match – they always ended up either too oily or left my skin looking chalky and ghost-like, even if I tried multiple shades. But True Match’s combination of perfect medium coverage, multiple shades, and great texture and blendability won me over and make it one of the most popular mid-priced ($16-19) foundation options on the market.
About a year ago, I tried the L’Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation, which is supposed to provide more glowing coverage and I have to say that I was definitely NOT a fan of this one. Although it still offers great colours and coverage, the oil-based formula was not my skin’s friend and I had to abandon it pretty quickly. Even mixing a bit with my regular True Match foundation left my skin feeling greasy and almost like it was melting off my face. I might as well have been in the Amazon, despite the fact that it was the middle of winter. I found that when it came to a more luminous and dewy finish, I was much better off using my Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance underneath my regular True Match foundation. More glow with less grease.
Because of my combination skin, I always have to use some powder to mattify things, but I do find that with the True Match, I don’t need to use as much to get a perfect finish.
With all of the benefits and the great price, I find it hard to move into any other foundation, especially a more expensive one. For me, True Match really is the perfect match.
Enjoy the pretty things in life,
