I have countless highlighters in my makeup case at home. From Benefit’s High Beam and Watt’s Up, Clinique’s Chubby Stick Highlighter, and Stila’s All Over Shimmer Duo, I’ve tried lots of different formulas, combinations, and brands. But my latest highlighter obsession is from MAC and it has become my go-to for brighter, happier skin.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Face Powder in Lightscapade is my new beauty obsession. This lightly shimmery (read – NOT sparkly or garish), pale pastel coloured powder actually finishes to a beautiful candlelit beige when applied. This powder doesn’t cake, lasts all day, and the finish gives you an absolutely gorgeous and natural looking glow.
Although you can use a good powder brush to lightly highlight multiple areas on your face, my favourite trick is to tap this powder onto the area under my eyes and along the tops of my cheekbones to brighten my eyes and emphasize the tops of my cheeks a bit more. I normally use a small amount of YSL’s Touche Éclat in my under eye area, gently blending it in before using a flat topped makeup blender like the Hourglass Strobe Lighting Tool to gently tap the Lightscapade powder in this area. I follow up with my translucent loose powder to set the look and voila! Perfectly brightened and highlighted eyes and cheeks.
This powder will last for ages, so it’s well worth the $37.00 CAD investment. Although I’ll still play with my other highlighters here and there, this summer, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade will be my go-to for brightening my skin.
