I realized the other day that it’s been a little while since I’ve done a beauty post, so I’m sharing a quick little review on the blog today. I am always in search of great drugstore products to deal with my combination skin and when I find a good one, you can be sure that I’ll share it with my readers.
I’ve been lucky that my skin has been pretty good lately. After a pretty crappy breakout a few weeks ago, my skin has calmed down a bit, so I’ve been able to put away the salicylic acid and treatment creams. That said, my combination skin never goes away, so when I find a gentle cleanser that helps with oiliness and doesn’t dry out my cheeks, I’m a happy gal. I’m currently loving Garnier’s Clean+ Shine Control Cleansing Gel, which although it is designed for oily skin, has been keeping my combination skin happy as can be. I have not found it drying on my cheeks, but it definitely controls the shine in my t-zone, as promised. It’s gentle, with no micro beads, which makes it much more environmentally friendly than some cleansers out there and the charcoal really does seem to make a difference in cleansing my skin. At night, I follow this up with Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +, but during the day, I stick to my Neutrogena Moisture Oil-Free for Combination Skin, which provides just enough moisture for my skin to be happy.
I find that with this skin care combination, I am definitely touching up my makeup a lot less frequently, which also makes me a happy gal. The Garnier and Neutrogena products are available at nearly every drug or grocery store (which is super convenient) and Clinique can be found at your favourite Department store, such as Hudson’s Bay in Canada or Nordstrom in the US.
And as a quick aside, I also have to share how much I am loving Essence Cosmetics lip products. The lipsticks and balms are colourful, don’t dry out my lips, and best of all, are priced at under $4.00 a pop! Seriously, when I need a pick me up during the work day, you can bet that I make a run to Shoppers Drug Mart to pick up a new tube. They definitely brighten my day, almost as much as having happy skin does.
Enjoy the pretty things in life,
