Despite the fact that it’s the beginning of September, fall is not exactly cooperating in Edmonton. In fact, next week’s temperatures look better than most of August! While that should be nice, it raises two issues: a) I’m sick of my summer wardrobe and only want to wear fall things; and b) I’m slightly concerned that Edmonton will skip fall altogether and go immediately from Summer to Winter (it’s happened before) and I am most definitely NOT ok with that.
But hey, I have zero control over the weather. So I’m dealing with it and my inability to wear allllll the sweaters by continuing to incorporate a bit of fall into warm weather dressing. Basics are always a good idea when inspiration is limited and the weather is unpredictable and while picking through my closet on Friday, I pulled out these fundamental pieces to create a fall-inspired outfit that I ended up loving, simple as it is.
After years and years of avoiding them, I am LOVING black jeans for fall. My favourites like THIS PAIR are form Old Navy because they fit great and they’re a total budget buy! I’ve included mine with some other options I also love below.
Olive is a natural colour for fall, and while this olive tank from H&M is older, I found some beautiful alternatives available now, and all under $50. This colour looks great with all kinds of denim – black, white, and traditional blue, so I love that I have options when wearing it.
Everyone needs a good pair of black pumps. I recently lucked out with THESE vegan leather beauties for under $30. And you can probably find them on sale regularly with a variety of discount codes (like 20% off this weekend with code TREAT). I also linked a gorgeous pair from my favourite shoe designer of the moment, L.K. Bennett, and a mid-range pair from Sam Edelman.
You know I love denim jackets and while I’d like to be wearing my true fall jackets, the weather is just too unseasonable warm for them! The nice thing is that this is a good time of year to find some great denim jackets like the ones below on sale (like THIS ONE, which you can also get for an additional 20% off, again with code TREAT).
I love my LV TOTE, but I found a couple of cute more moderately priced options that are great if you’re looking for something similar in structure but at a fraction of the price.
While I’m enjoying the warmth on some level, I do wish it would stick to weekends when I could visit Edmonton’s Accidental Beach instead of it being 28 degrees on a Wednesday. If you’re from Edmonton and have visited the Accidental Beach, let me know what you think! I’m hoping to get there soon, before fall (or winter!) really set in!
Enjoy the pretty things in life,
