I recently had the opportunity to try the Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick Primer. After not trying any new products in the last couple of months, it was fun to try out the primer, which has become part of my every day makeup routine.
WHAT IT DOES
The Milk Makeup Luminous Blur Stick claims to blur the look of fine lines and pores while creating a glowing, matte finish. It goes on clear to create a golden, pearl-infused glow on all skin tones, without clogging pores. It also claims to absorb oil to mattify the skin and smooth the look of your skin so that makeup applies more smoothly and lasts longer. The stick formal is easy to apply and features a silicone-free and oil-free formula with no parabens. Swipe the stick all over the face and blend to prime your skin and use after makeup to leave a subtle highlight. The product also claims it can be used as a luminous, invisible foundation (a major plus in my books).
Although I was initially skeptical of the claim to provide a matte finish with a luminous glow (especially with my combination skin), I was pleased to see that the promises really were true. After using the Luminous Blur stick, my skin definitely had a subtle glow, but did not have the shine I expected – it wasn’t perfectly matte, but I like that about the finish. There’s nothing sparkly or garish about this product either, which is a major plus because I am waaaaay too old for that. The glow is perfect if you’re wearing light makeup, but it is a bit harder to spot if you’re going with full coverage, which makes it perfect for an everyday makeup look (my fave!). The stick application was super easy and it blends really well (I used my fingertips, saving my Beauty Blender for my Nars Velvet Matte Foundation Stick – read the review here) but I did find it hard to apply to the nose area. I recommend using a foundation brush to apply some here, or skip it altogether. Although it claims to reduce the look of pores, I have to disagree. It didn’t erase my pores at all (nothing really does) in my t-zone, but if your pores are minimal, it may work better for you in that sense.
Overall, I really love the product. It serves as a great base that definitely makes my foundation last longer and the matte glow it delivers is really pretty and perfect for every day. While it didn’t hide my pores, I’ll overlook this because I love the finish and the subtle glow it provides, especially when combined with my everyday makeup favourites.
